Before we begin,
My Goal with this Newsletter is to provide education on productivity, mental, and physical performance that will change your life. |
This newsletter not only is a place of education but also, an opportunity to cultivate a fostering community of strong and ambitious young men so that we are able to help out one another in these times of weakness and comfort. |
Because the hard times are coming soon. |
I don’t know exactly when, but I assume that it will happen in our generation’s lifespan, like how the saying goes, easy times create weak men, and weak men create hard times. |
Throughout these posts, I will be only talking about my stories and the mistakes/lessons that I’ve made along the way. So hopefully this will be a place where people can talk about their problems and uplift one another. |
If that resonates with you, I’ll highly appreciate it if you subscribe to this newsletter so that you will be up to date with the latest information and get access to exclusive posts like this one, it’s a win-win for both of us. |
Before we do get into the content of this week’s post, I do want to mention a quick disclaimer or sidenote before we begin. The concept that we will discuss in this post will be some unconventional advice that you will not see in an average self-help newsletter.
For the majority of my posts, I always try to present the information in the most logical and technical way possible, but the concept that we will discuss will definitely be more on the emotional side of the spectrum. These elements will include loss, anger, frustration, bitterness, and overall negative thoughts. If you think that does not suit you or you do not resonate well with, then this post is not for you.
For the people who have experienced hard times or is currently going through hard times, then I do hope that this post is able to resonate with you in a way that can you help you overcome this obstacle and come out a better person afterwards. Not only I do I cover the more optimistic and cheerful aspects of self-improvement, but I do also have to cover the darker and less talked about parts of self-improvement Aswell.
Especially because this is a part of our masculinity as men, we have a more positive side but also a darker, primal, side to us well. Being fully authentic and open about both sides of the spectrum will not only help us grow as individuals but to also tap into that “dark energy” to propel us towards our goals and aspirations.
Just a sidenote before we fully discuss this topic, to make sure that we are on the same playing field in terms of communication and preventing misunderstandings.
But, with that disclaimer aside, let’s begin!
What is your “F-T-E”?
Ok so at this point you might be wondering, “what does F-T-E stand for?”
The concept that we’re talking about can be quite vague and wishy-washy to some, but I’ll word it in a way that makes the most sense to you.
The abbreviated term F-T-E for short, or “Fuck this Event” can be defined as the moment that you hit absolute rock bottom, filled with pure frustration, or agitation, you are able to channel this negative energy and use it to light the spark that sets you on the right of passage to become a better version of yourself.
I’ve coined this term from the book The Millionaire Fastlane which highlights how this concept can be used perfectly to skyrocket not only your motivation, but your desire to change by any means necessary.
It is only when you experience those tough times that you’re really able to extract this pure, “dark” energy that is absolutely crucial if you want to perform at your very best. I quite sure that you’ve experienced an F-T-E event before, which kickstarted your path into self-improvement and self-betterment. I’m not trying to say this in a derogatory term, but it is very rare that I see an average person suddenly have the desire to change their whole entire lifestyle without them having an experience that calls them to.
While experiencing a F-T-E event, you express a very raw and almost violent energy that can’t really be explained by technical terms or logic. You are put in a very emotional state that is very irrational in nature but serves as the steppingstone to really transform your life for the better but at some times, for the worse.
But, in all honesty that’s what it really takes in order to make such a big lifestyle change like being on self-improvement and so on. There’s really no average guy who can just give up their old habits, start new ones without any resistance, and then experience any success. It all comes from the immense desire to improve after you’ve been backed into a wall or pushed over the edge. There’s one quote that really encapsulates this concept quite well which states “When we hit our lowest point, we are open to our greatest change”
How to Discover Your F-T-E:
Your F-T-E can be defined as the event that caused you to make drastic lifestyle changes, but it can also be defined as your burning passion for growth. Aside from your own innate desire to improve and change, what are some other additional factors that are causing you to work harder? What are you fighting for exactly? Is it for your family? Your future self’s success? Or is it because of your past lessons and failures? Be very introspective and highlight the main motivating factor, usually it is the one that helps get you up out of bed everyday even when you don’t feel like it.
How to Use it to Work Even Harder:
In order to use this knowledge to effectively apply this to your own self-improvement journey, you have to be in full control in what is known as your “dark masculinity”. This refers to the dark energy or this very primal emotion that will have due to our psychology. You may view it as an inherently a bad thing, but with the correct implementation, it can be used in a positive way to bring you unprecedented power and motivation. It is quite hard to grasp if you’ve never experienced it before, though with enough awareness, we are able to take advantage of this dark energy for our own benefit.
Say for, your work, fitness, etc. When we are in a state of peak exhaustion and fatigue, we are able to access this new source of untapped energy, also referred to as our “dark energy” We are able to use this energy to further push ourselves beyond our perceived limitations just out of sheer raw emotion. You can use this as a little extra boost or kick that you need in order to accomplish a hard task. Hopefully you’re able to grasp this concept a lot better once I explained it fully.
Well, I hoped you’ve enjoyed this edition of the Peak Performance Newsletter. It was definitely one of the shortest posts that I’ve wrote since concept itself was quite small. I know the topic was quite different in comparison to my other posts since we dived deeper into the psychology/spirituality space, but I thought that it was definitely a crucial aspect of self-improvement that was important to discuss. More of the usual topics on the newsletter will be discussed next time for sure 😎
Aside from that, I hope that you’ve found this post helpful for your own self-improvement journey.
