Author’s Notes:

Before we begin, I just want to apologize for the recent delay in emails this past week, since I’ve been working through some things behind the scenes for this newsletter besides just writing. After publishing my recent post, I was heavily introspecting on what the next step for this would be. Since I see this not as some random newsletter but rather an extension of my own self-improvement journey. So that’s why I take the initiative to ensure that my current values and ideologies are aligned to it as well.

But, with that being said I did state that I was going to make an additional post for last week, although unfortunately I was not able to make that happen.

Throughout this period of time, I did make some changes for what topics that I will be mainly discussing about in my posts. Initially, I was writing about how to improve your productivity, mental and physical performance though I realized that I really didn’t emphasize much on the physical health aspect of self-improvement thus far.

My realization was that this newsletter would be better suited with talking about the mental/psychological side of self-improvement, that I’m honestly more interested in and also because it doesn’t get talked about enough even outside of the newsletter space.

I’m not saying that improving your physical health is a bad pursuit or anything, since I have invested a lot of time in the fitness aspect of my life in my early years of self-improvement. But, during this current season of my life, I don’t feel the incessant need or demand to prioritize writing fitness-based topics.

Rather, I want to focus on more niche topics that are still in the realm of self-improvement, but I feel like it deserves more attention overall. And if you haven’t already noticed in the description for this newsletter, it would be revolved around discussing productivity, psychology, and philosophical topics in the realm of self-improvement.

I don’t think that this is a sudden change from the writing that I used to put out, since it is relatively in the same ballpark, with mental health being within the niche of psychology. The main goal was to make it more apparent on what I was really writing about.

Since the description of “improving your productivity, mental, and physical health in of itself is quite general and simplistic in comparison to what I was actually discussing in the newsletter.

With that being said from the start, this newsletter was never about general self-help topics since I always preferred writing on more niche (specific) topics that were more geared towards individuals who are looking for advanced concepts.

That’s why you’ll never see me post “The TOP 7 WAYS to IMPROVE YOUR MENTAL HEALTH” or “THE TOP 10 WAYS to become successful in 2025” since those clickbaity titles will just attract the wrong audience that aren’t looking for long term advice.

Author’s Notes Part 2 (My 2,000+ Worth of Progress Didn’t Save…)

I was about to start continuing my writing today, until I went on this draft and realized that I lost around 2,000 WORDS of progress for this post. I swore that it had already automatically saved when I exited out of the program, but to my despair at the same time… my internet was cut off due to the recent storm that I had in my area. Meaning that most if not all of my progress was erased away.

Honestly, at first, I couldn’t believe it, since I thought that it was some sort of computer glitch, so I refreshed the page again, and again, and again, hoping that the page would look different. And just like that, a whole 2 days’ worth of writing is now gone, with no way to recover it back.

And just when I was about to finish publishing it as well, man... a great wave of despair entered the room when reality started to settle in.

Sure, I was really frustrated about what happened, since it does take me quite a while to recollect my thoughts into purposeful content and then for all of it to be washed away. It’s a stinging pain for sure. But after I regained my composure, I decided to see this incident as a lesson that I can take from it rather than an annoyance.

You see, this can happen anytime, not just in writing but in every aspect of life. You oversee one thing and then it all crashes down right in front of you. But instead of being bitter about it, I took my own advice and accepted it as it is.

I took responsibility for this mistake to occur, and paid idiot tax for it big time. So, by taking responsibility for my actions, I make sure that my future self doesn’t pay the mistakes that I had. It keeps you accountable, which is good.

But with that aside, this is the first time that this has occurred before, so I will definitely be more wary of it next time.

So, if you wonder why this post is so delayed in the making, this section is here to explain why.

Ironically enough, it is aligned with the main topic that we’re going to discuss in this post, which is how our belief systems can actually manifest into reality and change how we see the world. Regardless, I will keep moving forward to finishing this post even if that means writing it all over again.

How Your Beliefs Dictate Your Success.

So how do our belief’s dictate our success? Your beliefs, and believe me when I say this, is one of the single most important aspects of your life (besides your self-image) that you need to master.

Notice how I say in your life, and not in self-improvement? Like I said in my previous post about the self-improvement fallacy, self-improvement should be used as an integration of your life, not to overcompensate it. This belief is centered that self-improvement habits should be stacked on top of your “soul”, the fundamental core aspects that defines you as a person. I believe that the 2 that are most important is 1. your belief system and 2. your self-image, but we’ll discuss that in future posts as we dive deeper into the psychology behind our everyday intentions.

Without these 2 principles in place, then you just become a husk of your former self. What’s the point in doing self-improvement if it makes you a soulless individual as a result? This is why doing inner work on your own psych is super important when it comes to maximizing your own self enjoyment and fulfillment.

Hence why in this newsletter, we generally talk more about the internal works that goes behind self-improvement. Not just only the tactics or the habits in self-improvement, but the person behind the wheel. Think of self-improvement as a vehicle that gets you to your destination (goals) faster, but it is only capable of doing so when it has a capable driver (you) who controls it along the way.

Afterall, we are just minds connected to a meat suit. Everything comes starts within the mind, since if you do not have that figured out, then you will only leave yourself a bunch of holes to fix later down your journey.

Though the first aspect that we’ll be discussing today is your beliefs.

But first, in order to determine how our beliefs dictate our success, we must examine what our beliefs truly are?

Define Beliefs:

The beliefs that you carry are your subjective interpretation of how you see the world based on the collective experiences that you’ve had.

Let me reiterate one this one more time since I believe that this is one of the most important things that you’ll ever hear in your life.

The beliefs that you hold within your own mind is only just your perspective on the world based on your own experiences.

I think that it is extremely crucial to point out that your beliefs (your attitude) are not the objective truth of the world. Ok so what does that mean exactly?

It means that based on your own beliefs, it can literally distort or change the way you see the world in comparison to other people. But, with enough awareness and practice, you are able to put aside your biases (your beliefs) and be willing to change your attitude on the world.

I know that I am repeating the same thing over and over since I think it is important to drill this into your head but let me try to put this in another perspective.

We’ve all heard of this popular phrase that “the world doesn’t revolve around you”, well turns out that’s a load of BS since the world literally does revolve around you based on the beliefs that you carry.

Meaning that the world will distort and will continue to be shaped by you, the individual who possesses these beliefs. Once your beliefs are set into stone, you will try to reinforce those beliefs by constantly looking for situations that would prove it otherwise. This should start to blow your mind once you’ve realized that 2 people can have the same circumstances, the same upbringing, some problems, but the only difference in where one of them succeeds while the other fails is their core belief systems.

How Your Beliefs Dictate Your Own Success:

Ok, not convinced yet? Let me give you an example how important your beliefs are within the realm of self-improvement.

But, first let me ask you one question.

Are your own beliefs serving you?

or,

Are your own beliefs against you?

Really think about this question for a moment and if you’re daring (write it down in the comments section below on what your answer is) You would say “Well my beliefs have to be serving me, right?”

You might be surprised on what you might find once you’ve completed this experiment that I’m going to give you.

Ok, so I’m going to write down a statement below and I want to see on how your brain responds to it.

And be honest with yourself, to truly see if your beliefs are actually on your side here as you’ve suggested.

The following statement is:

If I dedicated my entire life’s purpose into a sole passion, then I can become a millionaire within 3-5 years.

Ok, so immediately your brain is firing up, generating all of these responses to what you’ve just read. So, I want you to pick apart what your response to this was.

So, perhaps when you’ve read this statement, perhaps your thoughts were immediately

“Oh, well there is no possibility that I can become a millionaire within that span of time, let alone my entire life”.

“It’s just not in the cards for me; I’m not the type of person who could accomplish that”.

“This is so unrealistic; it is only because of (X) reason that I am unable to achieve this and not because of a lack of ambition or work ethic”.

So, just sit here and think about it. Were those thoughts that you’ve just had, are they really on my side? Instantly, you’re maybe thinking of a decent excuse to cover it up, but if we’re being honest here, most of you reading that statement would have spiraled into the thought pattern that I described above. Why is that?

If your beliefs were truly on your side that you thought it did, then why did it actively go against you whenever I proposed a insanely fulfilling goal to achieve?

I don’t gain anything out of saying that you can become a millionaire if you’ve worked hard enough for 3-5 years, which I believe is a very reasonable goal to set. So why are you going against something that would end up benefiting your own life?

Throughout this experiment, I was testing to see if it would uncover any limiting beliefs that are hidden away within your own subconscious.

So, what are limiting beliefs?

Limiting beliefs are a set of beliefs that actively go against your goals and hinders your desire for growth. Limiting beliefs are commonly unconscious thoughts, meaning that they arise whenever you are not aware of them.

Because no one consciously thinks to themselves “Oh yes, I cannot become a millionaire within 3-5 years because I am lazy and unambitious”.

So, if do not take the effort to bring these beliefs to life, then why do we still have them?

The answer? It usually comes from our own childhood experiences and unfortunately, the act of other people putting these negative beliefs onto us. Though, to ensure that this post gets out on time, I’ll save that for a future discussion.

How Does Our Beliefs Manifest into Reality?

So how do our beliefs manifest into reality?

This is how a simple shift in our beliefs can determine whenever or not we are successful.

Even if you do everything else right, you have great work ethic, you developed transferable skills, but that can all amount to nothing if you do not have the right core beliefs to carry you onto that path to success.

Imagine the great athletes of our time, the celebrities that you admire, these figures that we all look up to. Even though they did significantly different pursuits, they all had one thing in common.

They all had incredibly strong belief systems.

They had no belief in their mind that would oppose them from reaching their goals. If so, it was already deleted from their own mind, the only beliefs that were worthy were the ambitious beliefs that carried them to success. Ambition is the key word here; ambition is the key to success.

Let me take Cristiano Ronaldo as an example, one of the best football players of all time, and achieved many great things during his career as you may have already known.

Now imagine where would Cristiano Ronaldo be if he wasn’t ambitious, if he didn’t have that hunger to become one of the world’s best football players? What if he let his own limiting beliefs get the best of him, what if he carried a poor man’s mindset to success?

Unfortunately for Cristiano Ronaldo, he would probably still be on the streets of Portugal, cleaning, and would not have even achieved even a Fraction of the success that he had right now.

The beliefs that you make yourself believe, had a long-term impact on where you’ll go in life. The beliefs that you lay out in front of you, causes you to conceive yourself as a manifestation of those beliefs, good or bad.

(Chapter 1)

Your beliefs have such a substantial impact on shifting your reality than you will ever realize.

But you might be thinking “Wait, how is that possible? Beliefs are only in your mind, so how could they change anything in the physical world?”

Well, my friend, your beliefs not only determine how you see the world, but also how the world perceives you.

Let me give you an example on what I mean.

Let’s take a hypothetical situation for 2 male contestants. They both have the same circumstances, the same genetic disposition, and they both share one common goal.

Both contestants want to lose weight, they eat the same diet, they follow the same workout plan, everything within the physical realm has remained constant for both parties.

The only difference between these 2 contestants is 1 thing, they hold different core belief systems on how they approach their goal.

Let’s take a look at contestant 1, who holds the firm believe that he can’t lose weight no matter what he does…

Do you think that he is going to lose weight faster than contestant 2? Maybe slower? Or is it about the same?

If he carries the belief that he can’t lose weight, what is going to happen is that his mind will subconsciously look for situations that affirms that belief. This is the unfortunate reality because most of the limiting beliefs that you carry are not as easy to point out as your positive beliefs.

Do you think that this contestant will commit to their diet? Why would they, if there is no point then why bother trying in making an effort? Do you think that this person is going to be consistent in the gym? Why would they, if their belief is that everything that they do is futile.

And the worse part about it is, when he starts to manifest this belief in reality, other people will start to perceive him that way as well.

Because you are who you conceive yourself to be, it doesn’t matter if the other contestant looks the same as contestant 1, because it is the belief behind it that makes the difference.

Now imagine if you had this defeatist attitude with yourself and to the world, do you think that other people are going to treat you differently than how you would treat yourself? Of course not, because you have already affirmed that you are a “loser” who can’t lose weight.

Your mannerisms and how you carry yourself plays a big role in this; it is because those are the manifestations of your beliefs. You think that you’re going to act confidently if you have beliefs that are going against you? Of course not.

Now, I’m not saying that you should actively try to delude yourself from reality, but it is important to consider the impact that our psychology has on us.

Because if you keep re-affirming negative beliefs into your head, a vicious negative feedback loop will insinuate because of it.

Now let’s look at contestant 2, who has the strong belief system that actually serves him.

Although he has the means to drip into a negative feedback loop, instead he has the belief that “With enough effort and commitment, he can realistically attain his goals”.

Contestant 2 will succeed far more than contestant 1, because he has more ambition to do so. Even with the same circumstances, he will perform better because his belief system is able to carry him towards success, rather than belittling him.

How Do You De-Hypnotize Yourself from False Beliefs?

Now, this section is going to be the trickiest one to dissect, since it could vary on the individual and what limiting beliefs that they have personally.

The reason why false beliefs can be hard to break is because you have already reinforced it into your brain countless times beforehand consciously or unconsciously. It is a means of repetitive action that is needed to both grow negative or positive beliefs into someone’s psych.

Life is like an RPG game but on hard mode, if you don’t train a certain attribute or skill, your levels will start to gradually fall lower and lower.

So, in order to actually get results from what you’ve read, it is crucial that you take deliberate action and thought into breaking free from your limiting beliefs. If you treat it as an afterthought that you’ll get onto eventually, then you will just slip back to your old ways.

So, I can only promise you that you will see results if you put in the effort yourself obviously.

The main problem that you’ll encounter when trying to do this is that for the most part, we live our lives in an AFK state, meaning that we usually aren’t present in our own thoughts near as much as we think we do. That being said, it takes some level of self-awareness to pull this off.

Actionable Steps to Apply What You’ve Learnt:

Here are some actionable steps that you can take to ensure that you actually make results.

I will attach a PDF file on the bottom of this page so that you can take a look at it whenever you need a reminder on what specific steps you need to take. Since changing your belief systems isn’t something that you do overnight, it takes deliberate attention and consistency to make visible progress.

  1. Become aware that you have limiting beliefs inside your own subconscious. There’s no point in proceeding further if you can’t accept that you hold these limiting beliefs. Since the first step to removing these beliefs is to have the self-awareness necessary to do so.

  2. Take deliberate action and pay attention to whenever a limiting belief pops into your head. Make sure you are aware of this belief and detach yourself away from it, the worst thing you can do is to reinforce it further.

  3. When you catch yourself dwelling about this belief, question why you believe this way and tackle it by introducing a new belief that challenges your previous one.

  4. So, for example, when you catch yourself with the limiting belief that “I can’t lose weight” then you challenge that belief with a new one such as “I am able to lose weight if I put effort into it”.

  5. We want your limiting belief in your head to be as quiet as possible, so start by reaffirming the new belief that you’ve created constantly, over and over again.

  6. You will be met with some resistance because your natural instinct is to fall back into your own belief, so by affirming your new one, you are now reinforcing that belief instead. So, you have to drill that into your head repetitively to see results.

  7. We are challenging your automatic thoughts (old beliefs) with implanting manual thoughts (new beliefs). So, it is your responsibility to be aware on if you are falling back into your old ways and then by chanting your new belief into your mind.

  8. In order to further reinforce the new belief, we need some kind of social proof that set it into stone. So, your task is to look for opportunities to reaffirm the new belief in the real world.

  1. This is the last step to manifest this new belief into reality. So, if you have the new belief that “You are capable of losing weight” then for example, you chant this affirmation that “Yes, I just smashed that workout session today, this means that I have lost weight” “Oh look, there’s some belly fat that isn’t sticking out as much anymore, that means that I have lost weight”. “Oh look, my arms are getting more defined, that means that I’m losing a lot of weight”.

You see what I’m doing here with this approach? By you connecting your beliefs with a realization that has happened in the real world, you are now going to manifest it more into reality. But you might be asking “But what if those realizations aren’t true? Am I just lying to myself then?” The point is that it doesn’t matter if it is true or not true, as long as you have the belief that it is true, then it will for certain be manifested into reality.

In a weird way, you are willingly trying to brainwash yourself into getting the results that you want. Obviously, you still need to put in the world, don’t just sit around and start screaming out beliefs and expect for something to change. But that’s common sense at this point. But, by putting these beliefs into reality, you are now far more likely to actually be consistent in the gym.

The framework itself is nothing super specific or complex, it’s just the difficultly in being fully aware of your beliefs in action which is the hardest thing to overcome. Though with enough consistency, you are able to see visible progress in how you view the world around you.

And as I promised, here is the PDF going over the actionable steps that you’ve read above.

Author’s Notes (Part 3):

I hoped you’ve enjoyed this edition of the Peak Performance Newsletter. I apologize again for the huge delay in the publishing of this post, and I will be back to my normal schedule for next week.

I am grateful for all of my readers who have stuck by so far, the ones who have initially signed up for the mental health guide or for those who have been here since the beginning. This is definitely the longest hiatus that I had before but just know that I’m not going anywhere anytime soon.

I have very big plans for this newsletter that I’ve been working on behind the scenes, so I can’t wait to show you what I have in mind for the near future. All I’m saying today is that I want this to be more than just a newsletter itself, but an actual community where we can share common ideas and exchange what we’ve learnt from one another.

So, until then, peace 😎✌
